Job description
The Imaging and Sensing Incubation team at Apple is seeking an FPGA Design Engineer to develop hardware systems that enhance user experiences and enable Apple Intelligence features. This role involves creating FPGA-based platforms and working hands-on in a lab environment. The engineer will collaborate with experts across various fields and influence hardware and system design decisions. The position offers the opportunity to see the direct impact of design choices on future Apple products.
Requirements
- Proficiency with FPGA design tools such as Vivado and Lattice Radiant.
- Strong System Verilog or Verilog RTL design skills.
- Experience with communication interfaces and protocols including I2C, SPI, and USB.
- BS degree and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience.
- Experience with image/signal processing implementation in FPGA.
- Understanding of low-level software and Python/Tcl for automation.
- Good understanding of CDC and FPGA timing constraints.
- Experience with CI/CD for FPGA builds and version control best practices.
- AI-assisted coding and design experience.
- Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Responsibilities
- Develop FPGA-based platforms from architecture through hardware bring-up.
- Build multi-sensor acquisition and processing systems.
- Make design decisions and observe their impact in working hardware.
- Work hands-on in the lab with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Collaborate with electrical engineering, sensor modules, and software teams.
