Job description

The Systems Development Engineer role at AWS focuses on implementing innovative cloud computing solutions for U.S. Government agencies. The team is responsible for building and operating large-scale distributed systems, ensuring optimal customer experiences. Candidates must possess a TS/SCI security clearance and have a strong foundation in Linux and networking. The position emphasizes collaboration with demanding government customers to address their specific needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional).
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals including networking, storage, and operating systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
  • Current, active TS/SCI US Government Security Clearance.
  • Experience utilizing AWS cloud solutions in a DevOps environment.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based systems in large-scale, distributed environments.
  • Design, deploy, monitor, and automate infrastructure, tools, and systems.
  • Drive the resolution of technical issues to improve customer experience.
  • Facilitate deep-dive troubleshooting and lead technical post-mortem discussions.
  • Collaborate closely with Amazon's largest government customers to address their needs.
