The Software Engineer role within the AI & Data Platforms team focuses on building next-generation Applied Machine Learning Data Platforms. This team is responsible for providing platform engineering, data engineering tools, and services that support various Machine Learning and Analyst teams at Apple. The role emphasizes designing and enhancing a scalable data platform to handle large-scale data problems efficiently. Candidates should have a strong data background and a passion for building production-grade platforms.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 4+ years of subsequent data engineering experience in data warehousing, big data, and analytics domains.
• Deep understanding and experience of working with high volume, high concurrency platforms.
• Proficiency in writing Spark, Trino, Snowflake, Flink code, Python, and SQL for large scale relational data warehouses and data lake platforms on the cloud.
• Experience designing data pipelines for structured and semi-structured data.
• Experience building highly scalable data engineering platform components and foundational tools in Python, Java, or Scala.
• Deep experience working with AI models and tools such as Claude.
• Experience with large scale platform migration projects.
• Familiarity with distributed frameworks including Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, and Flink, along with knowledge of Cloud platforms and technologies.

• Design, build, and enhance a scalable and efficient data platform.

• Train and deploy inference models for various Apple platforms.
• Run data analytics at scale to prevent fraud and automate decision-making.
