The AWS BIOS Engineering team is seeking a senior firmware engineer to develop and maintain custom firmware solutions for Amazon's server platforms. This role focuses on BIOS/UEFI implementations that enhance security, performance, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in embedded systems and will work closely with internal teams and external partners to solve complex firmware challenges. This position offers the opportunity to influence future server architecture decisions and contribute to AWS's global infrastructure.

• 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 6+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 6+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
• Experience as a mentor or tech lead in an engineering team
• 6+ years of bare-metal firmware or BIOS/UEFI development experience in C
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience with BIOS/UEFI/EDK2/Coreboot development on x86 or ARM server platforms
• Experience with ACPI, SMM, PCIe enumeration, secure boot, or platform RAS features
• Experience interfacing with silicon vendors on reference code integration

• Design and implement custom UEFI/BIOS features for AWS server platforms
• Debug complex firmware issues using tools like ITP, ScanTool, and JTAG
• Optimize boot time performance and platform initialization sequences
• Implement secure boot mechanisms and firmware security features
• Develop and maintain Power-On Self Test (POST) code
• Create firmware update mechanisms and recovery solutions
• Work with hardware teams on board bring-up and platform validation
• Coordinate BIOS development efforts with ODM partners
• Interface with CPU/GPU vendors for new platform bring-up
• Provide technical leadership in advanced firmware features
