Job description
Amazon is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to join the Material Handling Systems team. This role focuses on the analysis, design, and documentation of structural systems that support conveyors and material handling platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural steel design and experience with computational design tools. This position offers the opportunity to impact large-scale projects across Amazon's fulfillment network.
Requirements
- 5+ years of structural engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one US state
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Structural, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Experience performing structural analysis and design of steel structures and connections
- Proficiency in structural FEA analysis software such as RISA
- Strong knowledge of steel connection design and detailing
- Knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, and AWS D1.1 standards
Responsibilities
- Develop structural calculations and design documentation for material handling systems and associated infrastructure.
- Support the development of structural permit documents, installation drawings, and coordinated BIM models.
- Design structural connections ensuring load path integrity and code compliance.
- Perform comprehensive structural analysis and design calculations for material handling equipment supports.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors to integrate structural requirements with equipment specifications.
- Respond to RFIs during construction phases and conduct site visits to verify installation compliance.
- Perform design checks and peer reviews of structural calculations and drawings.
