Job description

The Senior Sensor & Compute System Engineer role at Amazon Robotics involves serving as a technical bridge between customers and engineering teams. This position focuses on defining system architecture and product strategy for sensing and edge compute domains. The ideal candidate will engage with customers to identify needs and translate them into actionable requirements. This cross-disciplinary role requires deep technical expertise and the ability to influence product direction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics
  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, sensor development, edge computing, or related technical roles
  • Proven track record of leading customer-facing technical engagements and translating ambiguous needs into actionable engineering requirements
  • Deep understanding of sensor technologies combined with knowledge of edge compute architectures and real-time data pipelines
  • Experience mentoring or training the engineering community on complex technical issues

Responsibilities

  • Own the customer relationship as the senior technical point of contact.
  • Collaborate with product management to define the sensor and compute product roadmap.
  • Drive system architecture selections across optical, electrical, mechanical, firmware, and edge compute domains.
  • Drive the architecture for on-device and near-sensor compute modules that enable real-time perception.
  • Oversee market analysis and technology scouting efforts across sensing and edge compute.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
