Job description
The Risk and Vulnerability Management (RVM) team at Apple Services Engineering is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead the data engineering and architecture efforts for a new security data platform. This role involves managing security risk for various Apple services and consolidating data from multiple sources into a prioritized backlog for engineering teams. The successful candidate will own the data model and pipeline contracts, ensuring efficient data processing and risk enrichment. Strong experience in distributed data technologies and excellent problem-solving skills are essential for success in this position.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience working with Spark and other distributed data technologies such as Hadoop, Presto, Flink, and Druid.
- Highly proficient in at least one of Java, Python, or Scala.
- Deep expertise in Data Principles, Data Architecture, and Data Modeling with strong SQL skills.
- Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional projects.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to lead discussions on technology strategy.
- Conceptually familiar with AWS cloud resources including S3, EC2, and RDS.
- Conceptually familiar with the OSI model and network operations.
- Experience with Cloud Computing platforms like Amazon AWS or Google Cloud.
- Experience building stream-processing applications using technologies such as Apache Flink or Spark-Streaming.
- Experience with search systems like ElasticSearch or NoSQL datastores such as HBase or MongoDB.
Responsibilities
- Lead the data engineering and architecture for the security data platform.
- Own the data model and pipeline contracts for cross-team collaboration.
- Move data pipelines from prototype to production to support business needs.
- Ensure ownership attribution and risk enrichment is streamlined as a service.
- Identify and triage risks efficiently to support engineering teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data solutions.
