Job description
The Risk and Vulnerability Management (RVM) team at Apple Services Engineering is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead the data engineering and architecture efforts for a new security data platform. This role involves managing data from various sources to create a prioritized backlog for engineering teams and providing insights for leadership. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in distributed data technologies and a strong understanding of data principles. Success in this position requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate a complex organizational structure.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience working with Spark and other distributed data technologies such as Hadoop, Presto, Flink, and Druid.
- Highly proficient in at least one of Java, Python, or Scala.
- Deep expertise in Data Principles, Data Architecture, and Data Modeling.
- Strong SQL skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional projects.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Conceptually familiar with AWS cloud resources like S3, EC2, and RDS.
- Understanding of the OSI model and network operations.
- Familiarity with the full technology stack from BMCs to applications.
Responsibilities
- Own the data model and pipeline contracts for engineering teams.
- Move data pipelines from prototype to production.
- Make ownership attribution and risk enrichment a standardized service.
- Lead discussions on technology strategy and approach.
- Consolidate data findings onto a single security data platform.
