Job description

The Hardware Validation Engineer for Data Center Engineering Labs at Google will bridge the gap between data center operations and systems engineering. This role involves working in hardware engineering labs to manage the deployment and maintenance of early-stage hardware systems. The engineer will also be responsible for collaborating with design engineers on New Product Introductions (NPI) and ensuring operational efficiency. This position offers an opportunity to expand skills in automation, thermal and networking rework, and project management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • 2 years of experience in a data center operations or facilities technical environment, or 1 year with an advanced degree.
  • Experience in systems validation and testing.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems, networking/cabling infrastructure, and physical hardware troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end physical deployment, rack-level integration, power-up, and network turn-up of prototype systems and early-stage hardware.
  • Perform physical reworks on development equipment, including upgrading thermal interface materials and implementing custom network cabling topologies.
  • Coordinate timelines and logistics for New Product Introductions (NPI) while collaborating with design engineers.
  • Develop scripting automation and design custom dashboard monitoring tools to track lab infrastructure health and system metrics.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, OS, and network connectivity issues to maintain operational environments.

Benefits

  • Employees at Google are often offered benefits like comprehensive health insurance, 401(k) matching, and flexible work arrangements, among other benefits.
