Job description

The inertial sensor team at Apple focuses on developing and integrating inertial sensors for various consumer products such as iPhone, iPad, and AirPods. The role involves engaging with external vendors and internal customers to specify and characterize inertial sensing systems. Candidates should have a strong background in inertial sensor development and system integration. Requirements

  • BS degree and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
  • Ph.D. with 10 years of hands-on experience in inertial sensing hardware development
  • Proficiency in the theory of operation, signal processing, fabrication, packaging, and design trade-offs
  • Fundamental knowledge in physics, mechanical, electrical, and material science engineering
  • Expertise in simulation, data collection, data analysis, and statistical analysis tools such as ANSYS Multiphysics, MATLAB, JMP, and Python
  • Executive level written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid teamwork and leadership skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel

Responsibilities

  • Define inertial sensor roadmaps, infrastructure, core technologies, specifications, and qualification requirements
  • Review and approve verification results
  • Identify, create, and document new sensing system metrics that enhance user experience
  • Engage with external vendors and internal customers to develop and characterize inertial sensing systems
