Job description

The Senior Hardware Power Test Engineer role at Google focuses on supporting a team responsible for the validation and qualification of server-related technologies. This position involves physical interaction with hardware in a simulated data center environment and requires expertise in power electronics. The engineer will work closely with hardware design teams to ensure lab readiness for new products and contribute to the development of cutting-edge AI and infrastructure solutions. The role demands both technical leadership and hands-on troubleshooting skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience working in a power electronics technical environment, or 3 years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in technical leadership is preferred.
  • Experience in power measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, programmable power supplies, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, Python, and Linux for test automation.

Responsibilities

  • Define, execute, and document electrical characterization, validation, and qualification of power distribution networks.
  • Troubleshoot and root cause electrical component level defects and design issues with minimal guidance.
  • Support design engineers with debug, component validation, and failure analysis of released products.
  • Develop test procedures for qualification and targeted testing of Devices Under Test using automated tests.
  • Collect and analyze data to enable data-driven engineering decisions during hardware research and development.
