Job description

The Systems Engineer role within Amazon's Robotics Delivery & Packaging Innovations (RDPI) team focuses on deploying innovative industrial robotics across North America's fulfillment network. This position requires strong technical skills in mechanical and electrical systems, network configurations, and software coordination. The ideal candidate will manage large-scale project planning and execution while collaborating with various cross-functional teams. This is a travel-based role that demands a proactive approach to improve system performance and handle end-to-end deployment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related STEM field
  • 1+ years of Linux systems administration and/or development experience
  • 1+ years of experience with technical drawings and/or reading CAD models (mechanical and electrical)
  • 1+ years of experience working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals
  • Ability to troubleshoot robotics systems to resolve escalations including quality hand-off and operational readiness testing
  • Willingness to work primarily in a construction or warehouse environment and travel extensively across the US

Responsibilities

  • Manage the tactical deployment of large scale industrial automation technologies across multiple sites.
  • Own the tactical execution to achieve the target 'go-live' date for each project assigned.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program managers, and internal customers to convert technical requirements into refined deployment execution documents.
  • Independently resolve difficult technical problems during deployment while considering operational burden.
  • Create and improve standard work documents and operational guidebooks.
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives with measurable results.
  • Mentor junior engineers and participate in technical assessments.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
