Job description

As a GPU Design Engineer at Apple, you will be part of the Silicon Technologies group, focusing on developing high-performance, power-efficient 3D graphics processor microarchitectures. Your work will contribute to the design of next-generation GPUs used in mobile devices and personal computers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the graphics IP meets performance, timing, and area goals. This role requires a strong understanding of computer architecture and design principles to tackle complex challenges.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of a BS degree
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture
  • Experience in logic design, including simulation and debug
  • Familiarity with timing analysis, synthesis, placement, and routing
  • Understanding of hardware performance
  • Ability to code using System Verilog HDL
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Perl
  • Ability to work well in a team under aggressive product schedules

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, low-power graphics IP that meets performance, timing, and area goals.
  • Explore design trade-offs while applying rigorous design principles.
  • Understand and contribute to cutting-edge microarchitectural specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with teams in architecture, validation, modeling, and physical design.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
