Job description
As the Lead Chassis Engineer at Rivian, you will be responsible for overseeing vehicle programs from design through production. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve complex chassis issues and ensure alignment on engineering solutions. This role requires a strategic mindset and the ability to conduct technical reviews while serving as a liaison between engineering and manufacturing. Your expertise will help bridge the gap between theoretical engineering and practical manufacturing execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- 12-15+ years of proven success in Chassis design and development, specifically within an OEM environment.
- Mastery of DFMEA and DVPR methodologies.
- Expert-level proficiency in CAD—specifically CATIA V6.
- Comprehensive technical command of chassis architecture and high-level vehicle dynamics.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary representative for Chassis program-level design and attribute reviews.
- Orchestrate the resolution of high-complexity technical issues by collaborating with Functional Managers and Manufacturing.
- Guide Design Release Engineers through sophisticated design challenges and root cause analyses.
- Define and manage critical chassis timing constraints by interfacing with various teams.
- Identify and escalate critical technical roadblocks to the Chassis Director.
- Drive regular technical touchpoints between suppliers and Design Release Engineers.
