The Staff Embedded Systems Engineer for High Speed DSP will work on shaping the future of AI/ML hardware acceleration at Google. This role involves driving the development of custom silicon solutions, particularly focusing on TPU technology that supports demanding AI applications. The engineer will bridge the gap between digital signal processing and hardware-software co-design, leading the development of adaptive algorithms and error correction systems. The position is part of a team that empowers Google customers with advanced capabilities and insights through innovative AI and infrastructure solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10 years of industry experience in embedded systems, firmware, communication systems engineering, or digital signal processing development.
- Experience developing embedded software in C/C++ for high-speed physical-layer interfaces, digital transceivers, or communication subsystems.
Responsibilities
- Define the long-term firmware roadmap and hardware-software partitioning for physical-layer interfaces.
- Architect advanced monitoring systems and firmware-driven diagnostics for tracking physical-layer link health.
- Design and implement bare-metal or RTOS firmware to control high-speed transceivers.
- Partner with TPU Systems and Networking Software teams to ensure seamless integration of silicon firmware.
- Identify and de-risk hardware-software interface bottlenecks impacting Google's AI infrastructure.
