Job description
The Operations Engineer role at Amazon involves solving and scaling engineering challenges in First and Middle Mile Operations. You will work with a team of skilled engineers to develop innovative solutions for sortation and distribution systems. This position requires a high level of ownership and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. The team is focused on enhancing logistics systems across North America while ensuring quality and efficiency.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as an industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Master's degree in engineering or equivalent STEM field.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level.
- Experience with complex automated material handling equipment and packaging technologies.
- Experience with Six Sigma and lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience in capital project management involving ownership of engineering design projects.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate efforts to develop optimal solutions and processes for the sortation and transportation network.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
- Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively communicating with business partners.
- Develop, monitor, and innovate cost-effective solutions for sortation and distribution systems.
- Travel 50 - 70% of the time to various project sites.
