·FY 2025Job description
The RDPI Global Engineering team at Amazon is seeking an Experimentalist to drive innovation in robotics technologies. This role focuses on ensuring that robotic systems are rigorously tested and validated before large-scale deployment. The team emphasizes problem-solving, experimentation, and data analysis to optimize automated systems for real-world applications. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between product design and field implementation, contributing to the development of cutting-edge fulfillment solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or a relevant field.
- 5+ years of experience in system development engineering, process engineering, or hardware design and validation roles.
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
- Experience with Linux/Unix.
- Proficiency with discrete event simulation tools and modeling techniques for system performance analysis.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret test data and identify failure patterns.
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques including 3D printing and fabrication.
- 7+ years of experience in system development engineering or NPI engineering roles.
Responsibilities
- Create systematic approaches and best practices for tackling complex, undefined problems across product development initiatives.
- Characterize and validate 3D depth cameras for automated quality inspection systems.
- Design and lead in-depth experiments to verify and validate design hypotheses.
- Drive fast-paced development cycles through rapid prototyping and iterative testing.
- Conduct statistical data analysis to extract insights and inform decision-making.
- Design and build lab infrastructure including hardware mockups and test fixtures.
- Partner with cross-functional leadership teams to establish technical vision and drive strategic initiatives.
Benefits
- Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
