Job description
The Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) Serverless team is seeking a cleared Systems Development Engineer to leverage cloud computing technologies for U.S. Government agencies. This role focuses on building and supporting AWS Lambda and container services in secure environments while enhancing operational efficiency through automation. The ideal candidate will work on eliminating manual processes and improving system reliability. The position requires an active TS/SCI security clearance and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on serverless and container capabilities for ADC customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 1+ years of experience designing or architecting systems for reliability and scaling
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals including networking, storage, and operating systems
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above
- Experience with distributed systems at scale
- Experience building services using AWS products
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
Responsibilities
- Design and build automation, tooling, and CI/CD pipelines for AWS Lambda and container services in isolated cloud environments.
- Identify and eliminate operational toil through software by replacing manual processes with self-service tools and automated remediation.
- Dive deep into service inter-dependencies and configurations to find root causes and drive permanent resolutions through code.
- Proactively identify and resolve system variances that could affect major services globally before they impact customers.
- Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability systems to ensure fault tolerance across distributed serverless and container infrastructure.
- Collaborate with commercial service teams to understand architecture changes and implement ADC-specific adaptations.
Benefits
- Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
