Job description

Fauna is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to design and scale assembly operations at a prototyping facility. This hands-on role involves collaborating with product design teams and developing assembly methods for complex electromechanical products. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, solving complex problems while driving continuous improvement. The team focuses on making robotics accessible and delightful to build, integrating hardware and software systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of direct manufacturing engineering experience in high-volume assembly environments for complex electromechanical products.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and ramp-up of integrated assembly operations.
  • Strong knowledge of assembly methods including mechanical joining, fastening, adhesive bonding, press-fits, human-assisted automation, and robotic assembly.
  • Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt preferred).
  • Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams in fast-paced, high-ambiguity environments.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product design teams to incorporate DFM/DFA considerations and advocate for reliable assembly processes.
  • Develop and prove out assembly methods for complex electromechanical products.
  • Drive PFMEA considerations upstream in product development.
  • Drive manufacturing line concept, design, requirements, and commissioning.
  • Define line requirements including layout, work content, cycle times, rates, and headcount.
  • Support detailed design of assembly equipment and develop equipment specifications.
  • Engage with equipment OEMs, tooling suppliers, and key production partners.
  • Drive project scope from concept through production launch.
  • Drive production readiness and operational performance, including safety and quality.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce non-value-add operations and drive improvements.
  • Develop and standardize assembly processes and operational documentation.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to drive continuous improvement.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
