Job description
The Electronic Systems Technical Specialist – Hardware at Cummins Inc. in Seymour, IN, is a technical leader responsible for the development, integration, validation, and continuous improvement of electrical and electronic hardware systems. This role involves leading complex engineering projects from concept through production and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in hardware engineering, particularly in electronic system design and product development. They will also mentor others and drive technical decision-making to enhance product performance and quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an appropriate STEM field is required.
- 8 years or more of relevant engineering experience is required.
- Demonstrated success in a Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, or equivalent technical leadership role is required.
- Experience in product development, design verification and validation, circuit analysis, and troubleshooting is required.
- Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and integration of electrical and electronic hardware to ensure reliable product performance.
- Drive resolution of complex hardware issues by identifying causal mechanisms and implementing data-driven solutions.
- Advance hardware development processes by applying structured problem-solving and proven design methodologies.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal engineering teams to deliver high-quality prototype hardware.
- Influence hardware requirements, design decisions, and validation strategies.
- Provide independent leadership of cross-functional projects and ownership of complex components.
- Mentor engineers, technicians, and student employees to build capability and ensure high-quality technical execution.
