Job description

The role involves developing next-generation systems software for AMD GPUs, focusing on Rust as a core technical direction. The team is responsible for enhancing compilers, runtimes, and low-level GPU software while ensuring safety and correctness in hardware-software systems. The position requires a deep technical understanding of compiler infrastructure and GPU architecture. Candidates will influence both immediate implementations and long-term architectural decisions for Rust across AMD platforms.

Requirements

  • Strong production experience with Rust, including ownership and borrowing, lifetimes, traits and generics, and error handling.
  • Experience with low-level or constrained Rust, including `no_std`, embedded systems, and firmware.
  • Strong C or C++ systems programming skills and the ability to work across mixed-language codebases.
  • Understanding of compiler correctness issues such as undefined behavior, aliasing, and memory models.
  • Ability to read and reason about low-level assembly and machine-level execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of production-quality Rust components for low-level and performance-sensitive GPU systems.
  • Help establish Rust as a first-class engineering language across the GPU software stack.
  • Design and implement compiler pipelines involving rustc, MIR, and LLVM IR.
  • Build analyses and transformations for GPU execution models and specialized hardware operations.
  • Partner with various teams to solve cross-organizational problems and write design documents.

Benefits

  • AMD provides a competitive 'Total Rewards' package that focuses on financial growth, health, and work-life balance.
