Job description

AMD is seeking a Member of Technical Staff (MTS) Software Development Engineer to research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software and compilers for semiconductor operations. The role focuses on enhancing software programs and developing tools for various technology platforms, including cloud-based solutions. The ideal candidate will work on complex problems, optimize hardware resource utilization, and participate in all phases of software development. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely and is part of a team dedicated to advancing technology.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Two years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent with five years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.
  • Two years of experience with CUDA, Linux and Windows internals, deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow or PyTorch), C, C++, or Python, software debugging in macOS, Linux, or Unix, and Git and Github.
  • One year of experience in low-level GPU kernel optimization and performance profiling and optimization tools.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software and compilers.
  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for enhancements and new products.
  • Develop software and tools in support of design, infrastructure, and technology platforms.
  • Profile and analyze system and application performance to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Design and implement strategies for distributed model training and inference across multiple GPUs and nodes.
  • Participate in code reviews, create unit tests, and author detailed documentation.
  • Work with on-site and offshore teams to deliver software solutions on schedule.
