Job description
As a Modem Software Engineer at Qualcomm, you will be part of the Modem Systems Software team, which focuses on developing low-level firmware and protocol software for cellular connectivity across various devices. The role emphasizes designing, developing, and optimizing real-time embedded software while integrating AI-assisted development workflows. You will work closely with hardware and systems teams to ensure high-quality modem firmware delivery. This position requires a strong understanding of embedded systems and a commitment to pioneering AI-native engineering practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong command of data structures and algorithms with the ability to reason about time and space complexity.
- Deep understanding of operating systems concepts including scheduling, concurrency, and memory management.
- Proven programming proficiency in modern C/C++ including performance optimization and cache-aware design.
- Experience with embedded software on DSP and Arm architectures.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize real-time embedded modem software across protocol layers, drivers, and platform services.
- Own end-to-end feature delivery including requirements, architecture, implementation, and maintenance.
- Pioneer AI-native development practices within the team by integrating AI coding agents into daily workflows.
- Build and maintain AI-assisted tooling for code review, static analysis, and automated crash/log triage.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with systems, hardware, test, and integration teams to deliver production-quality modem firmware.
