Job description
The Principal Architect, Azure Management Solutions will lead the development of next-generation Azure management architecture across Microsoft's cloud hardware portfolio. This role is crucial for shaping the strategy for managing various levels of infrastructure, including node, rack, and fleet management systems. The successful candidate will work closely with hardware, firmware, software, and cloud platform teams to create scalable and secure management solutions. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of Microsoft's cloud infrastructure and AI systems.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 7+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
- Deep knowledge of hardware and firmware management technologies, including BMCs and telemetry.
- Experience defining architecture for server management systems or hyperscale cloud infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to influence strategy across multiple engineering organizations.
Responsibilities
- Drive the evolution of management architectures including BMCs, telemetry systems, and firmware lifecycle management.
- Define the long-term architectural vision for Azure solution management across various infrastructure domains.
- Lead development of management architectures across server platforms and accelerated AI systems.
- Partner with teams to establish common management frameworks and architecture principles.
- Shape the transition from device-level management to fleet-level orchestration models.
- Influence external technology providers and industry consortia to align with Azure infrastructure requirements.
- Evaluate emerging industry trends and define Microsoft's strategy for next-generation management architectures.
- Communicate architectural strategy and roadmap decisions to executive leadership.
