Job description
The Injection Molding Engineering Manager leads a team focused on high-volume injection molding operations, overseeing both process and tooling engineering. This role is responsible for ensuring that molding processes are capable and repeatable while maintaining the health and availability of the mold fleet. The manager also drives quality performance and leads Six Sigma projects to optimize material flow and inventory accuracy. This hands-on position requires a strong technical background and a commitment to safety and quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Plastics, Polymer, Manufacturing, or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent evidence of exceptional ability.
- 7+ years in injection molding process and/or tooling engineering in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- 4+ years directly managing engineers, including hiring, development, and performance management.
- Deep expertise in scientific/decoupled molding, process window development, and statistical process control and capability analysis.
- Strong tooling fundamentals including mold construction and hands-on troubleshooting.
- Strong quality background with experience in APQP/PPAP, control plans, and audit-ready quality systems.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt with completed projects delivering quantified results.
- Industrial engineering and material flow capability.
Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of injection molding process and tooling engineers.
- Own process development and process control across all part numbers.
- Drive molded-part quality performance and lead root cause analysis.
- Own cycle time and press availability against tool design intent.
- Manage mold health and the tooling asset record.
- Oversee part movement and inventory accuracy from press to point of use.
- Lead Six Sigma and industrial engineering projects across the molding area.
- Manage molded-part launch activity from DFM feedback to production handoff.
