Job description

The role is for a motivated engineer with an electrical engineering background in the Manufacturing Test Engineering group at Tesla. This team focuses on developing automated testing equipment for power electronics and battery manufacturing. The ideal candidate will engage in hands-on work, collaborating closely with product design and manufacturing teams. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the production processes that support Tesla's innovative technology.

Requirements

  • Exposure to electrical test equipment including power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power analyzers.
  • Proficiency in reading and building schematics for machines and/or PCBAs.
  • Exposure to automation in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of hands-on controls, mechatronics, test, or automation engineering experience.
  • Degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Research and specify electrical test equipment to meet test requirements.
  • Design schematics and layout for industrial electrical control panels compliant with NFPA79, NEC, and UL508A.
  • Develop test specifications and create a detailed execution plan.
  • Perform bench testing on electrical components to validate test processes.
  • Implement reliable industrial safety systems to safeguard against high voltage and mechanical hazards.
  • Debug and optimize automated processes to minimize cycle time and maximize uptime.
  • Characterize and validate equipment using statistical approaches.
