Job description
Tesla is looking for a Manufacturing Controls Engineer to join the Drive Axle shop at the Semi Manufacturing Factory in Sparks, NV. This role focuses on automation controls, requiring expertise in PLC platforms, robotics, and safety systems. The engineer will be involved in hands-on troubleshooting and system improvements on the manufacturing line. International travel for FAT support is also a requirement of the position.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in Automotive manufacturing as a Controls Engineer
- Proficiency in PLC programming using IEC-61131 compliant languages and troubleshooting logic
- Hands-on experience with Fanuc robot programming and HMI/SCADA systems
- Experience with Electrical Design using EPlan or AutoCAD Electrical
- Knowledge of PROFINET and Ethernet communication protocols
- Familiarity with vision systems and dispense systems configuration
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve PLC faults to minimize downtime and improve efficiency
- Install, program, and integrate new equipment into existing automated lines
- Configure and program IO devices, servo systems, and vision systems
- Modify PLC Controls sequence logic and update HMI software to enhance safety and reliability
- Review and update electrical wiring diagrams and layout drawings
- Support 24/7 Production Operations as needed
