Job description
In this role, you will design, program, and commission AGV and AMR control systems for Tesla's Material Flow Engineering team at Gigafactory Texas in Austin, TX. You will lead mobile robot applications from concept through deployment, ensuring that Tesla factories can scale production effectively. The position involves working on both new and existing programs and requires travel to other Tesla sites globally. Your work will focus on integrating advanced automation solutions into factory systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience with AGV/AMR systems, fleet software, and material flow automation
- Hands-on experience designing or troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and control systems
- Experience with PLC programming, safety controllers, firmware, and mobile robot fleet or track programming
- Ability to read schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation
- Understanding of autonomous system requirements, navigation, and operating environments
Responsibilities
- Design AGV and AMR material flow solutions
- Design low-voltage electrical, battery, control, and safety systems using TIA Portal V20 and EPLAN 2026
- Lead development and system build of mobile robot programs including fleet and track programming
- Integrate AGVs and AMRs into existing and new factory systems
- Implement mobile robots from power-on through safety buyoff to handover
- Develop test programs and debug AGV/AMR navigation, controls, and networks to improve cycle time and uptime
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering to resolve issues and optimize routes
