Job description
The Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Device Engineer - GaN role focuses on enhancing the supply chain product development organization by owning the technical aspects of gallium nitride power devices. This position involves collaboration with suppliers and internal teams to ensure robust and scalable GaN solutions. The engineer will engage deeply with foundries and drive quality control and reliability testing. The role also includes advising on package options and capturing learnings for future device specifications.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience in GaN or closely related wide-bandgap device engineering.
- Strong working knowledge of GaN-on-Si and/or GaN-on-SiC epi and HEMT process flows.
- Hands-on experience with power-device reliability stress methods and failure analysis interpretation.
- Familiarity with JEDEC / AEC-Q101 / IPC, JEP180, AQG324, PPAP, TS16949 qualification frameworks.
- Experience with statistical process control, DOE, and reliability statistics.
- Knowledge of package and assembly processes including wirebond and advanced power packages.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, expected 25% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Drive technical engagement with GaN foundries and IDMs on process flow and device architecture.
- Lead failure analysis and root-cause investigations for device and process-related defects.
- Establish and maintain quality control plans, test procedures, and reliability test protocols.
- Conduct material characterization and process corner studies with suppliers.
- Collaborate with design and reliability engineering teams to meet design requirements.
- Establish acceptance criteria for production release and monitor device quality.
- Support application validation including double-pulse testing and board-level reliability.
- Advise product and design teams on package options and roadmap fit.
- Capture field and NPI learnings for supplier scorecards and next-gen device specifications.
- Own the technical content of GaN component roadmaps and drive manufacturing readiness.
