Job description
This role focuses on improving the customer experience of Tesla vehicles by enhancing the reliability of Autopilot hardware. The individual will conduct failure analysis and implement corrective actions while collaborating with various engineering teams. It is a hands-on position that involves bench and lab work, as well as data analysis. The candidate will be responsible for managing the entire subsystem from initial failure to validated solutions.
Requirements
- 1β5 years of hands-on experience in failure analysis, reliability, electronics debug, or related embedded/electro-mechanical hardware.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with circuit-level components and the ability to read and interpret datasheets.
- Hands-on experience with PCBA or electrical-system debug and testing.
- Familiarity with Linux, Python, and SQL for board interaction and data review.
- Strong attention to detail and structured problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work on-site in the lab most days.
Responsibilities
- Investigate field failures on the Autopilot Hardware PCBA across all vehicle platforms.
- Use lab and board tools to isolate issues on Autopilot PCBAs.
- Apply first principles and 5-Why thinking to determine root causes.
- Drive containment and corrective actions through implementation and validation.
- Use Python and SQL to review field data and identify trends.
- Collaborate with various engineering teams based on the nature of the failure mode investigation.
- Communicate findings, risks, and status to peers and leadership.
