Job description
Tesla's Energy Engineering Program Management team is looking for an Engineering Program Manager to oversee the development and execution of solar products, including photovoltaic cells and solar panels. This role requires collaboration across various engineering and operational teams to ensure successful product delivery from concept to high-volume production. The manager will be responsible for program execution, risk management, and improving engineering processes. The position is based in the Bay Area, with potential travel to manufacturing facilities as needed.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing engineering programs for mass-produced photovoltaic (PV) products or semiconductor-related products.
- Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle, including product requirements and manufacturing readiness.
- Experience working cross-functionally with various engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Proven ability to identify technical, manufacturing, supply chain, and schedule risks.
- Experience with PV/solar cell products and semiconductor technologies.
- Demonstrated experience creating and communicating integrated engineering and manufacturing schedules.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing line bring-up and production ramp.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with a record of managing complex programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional engineering programs for photovoltaic products from concept through production ramp.
- Drive product design and manufacturing development, ensuring alignment between design intent and production requirements.
- Manage product cost-down, quality improvement, and design optimization initiatives.
- Develop and maintain integrated engineering and manufacturing schedules, tracking program milestones and risks.
- Prioritize engineering activities based on technical risk and business impact.
- Drive product change management, including engineering changes and BOM updates.
- Establish and improve program management processes and risk-management frameworks.
- Identify and remove obstacles through data-driven problem solving and collaboration.
- Communicate program status, key risks, and recovery actions to engineering leadership.
