Job description
The Manufacturing Test and Engineering software team at Tesla is seeking a software developer to enhance the functionality of in-house designed test equipment. This role involves collaborating with various engineering disciplines to ensure product validation and functionality. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of software that interacts with hardware devices and supports manufacturing processes. This position plays a vital role in launching Tesla's products while ensuring they meet customer specifications.
Requirements
- Fluency in at least one object-oriented programming language.
- Familiarity with hardware connection protocols such as CAN, UDS, gRPC, Modbus/TCP, TCP/IP, and OPCUA.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment and/or with physical hardware devices.
- Experience working with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with devops and CI/CD tools including Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, and GitHub actions.
- Familiarity with data pipeline and data visualization tools like Telegraf, Kafka, and Grafana.
- Familiarity with cloud development tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Vault.
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a fast-paced environment to solve complex problems creatively.
- Play a key role in all aspects of product design and validation beyond software development.
- Write software in Go, LabVIEW, and/or Python to validate Tesla products on a manufacturing line.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to design test equipment that validates product functionality.
- Develop maintainable software for test equipment to support 24/7 production teams.
- Drive continuous improvements to the software and advance the software tech stack.
- Travel to different facilities across the US and the world to deploy your work.
