Job description
The role is part of Tesla's Supplier Industrialization team, focusing on critical component development and qualification at suppliers. It involves effective communication with internal and external teams, traveling to suppliers, and making critical decisions on-site. The primary goal is to ensure timely delivery of high-quality components for Tesla's production processes, facilitating rapid development cycles and product launches. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience in Quality Systems, including PPAP/APQP processes.
- In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and inspection.
- Demonstrable leadership abilities and experience managing safety-critical parts.
- Strong communication skills to direct supplier activities at the management level.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong technical writing ability and familiarity with SPC and data analysis.
- Willingness to travel an average of 30 - 40% of the time, possibly on short notice.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, and conduct industrialization activities within the supply chain team.
- Provide leadership for New Product Introduction (NPI) at suppliers.
- Accountable for supplier audits to ensure they meet performance, delivery, and reliability expectations.
- Collaborate with Tesla teams to determine ideal performance specifications and supplier metrics.
- Lead and improve supplier manufacturing process development and launch readiness.
- Guide suppliers in developing robust processes for efficient production of high-quality products.
- Validate supplier corrective actions to ensure they are robust and sustainable.
- Provide input on new materials for improved design, manufacturability, or cost reduction.
