Job description
The Field Support Engineer role within the Industrial Storage OPX team focuses on enhancing the capabilities and support for field service technicians. This position is critical in managing operational tasks that ensure the health of the IS fleet while contributing to long-term improvements. The engineer will work closely with field teams to resolve issues, track progress, and identify systemic problems. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Experience in field service operations, technical support, or process improvement, ideally within energy, utilities, or industrial equipment.
- Comfort working across data systems to diagnose and resolve operational issues.
- Strong organizational skills to manage a high volume of short-cycle work.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for daily interactions with various stakeholders.
- Pattern recognition instinct to identify recurring issues and know when to escalate.
- Ability to operate with autonomy in a fast-moving environment.
- Willingness to learn Tesla specific tools, processes, and systems quickly.
Responsibilities
- Resolve site-level data corrections, PM report issues, and operational fixes within 1β2 week turnaround targets.
- Follow up with field teams on containment and retrofit completion, flag overdue actions, and report status.
- Work with FSTs and field managers to execute OPX-designed pilots and collect structured feedback.
- Participate in the team's triage rotation to label, score, and route field improvement submissions.
- Identify when individual fixes point to a systemic problem and flag them for escalation.
