Job description
The Sustaining Reliability Engineer for Low-voltage electronics will focus on ensuring product reliability and quality throughout the manufacturing process. This role involves collaborating with various internal and external teams to identify risks and implement mitigation strategies. The engineer will oversee validation testing and contribute to the transition from New Product Introduction to mass production. A strong technical background in low-voltage electronics and a passion for engineering are essential for success in this position.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Acoustic, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience with low-voltage electronic components/systems and laboratory testing
- Understanding of manufacturing processes for electronic components
- Experience with burn-in testing, Environmental Stress Screening (ESS), and Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT)
- Understanding of highly accelerated testing methods and reliability growth modeling
- Experience developing reliability guidelines and innovative testing approaches
- Working knowledge of reliability statistics and tools like JMP or Minitab
- Working knowledge of failure analysis techniques and root cause analysis methods
- Proven ability to stay engaged and proactive in challenging situations
- Working knowledge of SQL and Python for data analysis
Responsibilities
- Mitigate manufacturing risks and ensure product reliability during scaling and high-volume production
- Oversee production validation and early-life reliability monitoring
- Develop accelerated test plans for sustaining activities
- Generate validation test plans for manufacturing and drive root cause corrective actions
- Collaborate with quality, service, supplier, and design teams to conduct failure analysis
- Analyze field usage and reliability metrics to optimize test methods
- Provide reliability guidelines and apply lessons learned for continuous improvements
- Work closely with Field Reliability Teams to identify and drive mitigation for field excursions
- Pull together vehicle fault signals and environmental stress data for analysis
- Maintain stakeholder-facing dashboards that combine insights with reliability test results
