Job description
Apple is seeking a Thin Film Transistor (TFT) panel design engineer to innovate and launch advanced display technologies for its products. The role involves architecting and developing TFT pixel and panel designs, focusing on simulation and automation to enhance design processes. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure high-quality display performance. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and collaboration to drive the next generation of display technologies.
Requirements
- BS degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience
- Hands-on experience creating 2D physical layouts in a CAD environment
- Experience performing circuit simulation with a SPICE-class simulator
- Understanding of TFT, OLED, and panel processes
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on thin-film devices
- Direct design ownership of an OLED or LCD display product that reached high-volume production
- Experience in display touch and characterizing IV and CV of TFT or OLED devices
- Experience in characterizing panel optical and electrical performance
- Experience in gate, column driver IC and other display electronics designs
- Experience building repeatable automation for simulation and data-analysis flows
- Effective use of AI-assisted development tools
Responsibilities
- Design and develop complete TFT pixel and panel designs
- Advance model fidelity and build automation around simulation and measurement data analysis
- Establish simulation methodology and best practices for the panel design team
- Conduct failure mode analysis and root cause investigations
- Explore and validate new TFT technologies
- Engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Collaborate with external vendors for display manufacturing
- Perform pixel and panel modeling, characterization, and validation
- Develop and maintain design automation for panel simulation and measurement data analysis
