Job description
Apple's Silicon Engineering Group is seeking talented engineers to join their CPU implementation feasibility team. This role focuses on shaping the next generation of Apple silicon by working with RTL to transform microarchitectural ideas into high-performance, low-power designs. The position involves collaboration with micro architects and multi-functional engineering teams to define CPU and memory subsystems. Candidates will engage in feasibility experiments and drive the RTL-to-GDS flow to achieve ambitious design goals.
Requirements
- Minimum BS degree and 3+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience with VLSI implementation on high performance designs
- Experience with CPU microarchitecture
- Understanding of static timing analysis and power
- Knowledge of physical design fundamentals
- Implementation experience on high performance CPU designs
- Experience with Logical Equivalence checking (LEC) tools
- Experience with power analysis tools
- Experience with static timing analysis tools
- Understanding of power, performance, and area trade-offs
- Strong communication skills
Responsibilities
- Perform different feasibility experiments for RTL innovations and improvements that drive the next generation of high performance and low power chips.
- Make area, frequency, performance, and power trade-offs.
- Drive RTL-to-GDS flow through synthesis/place-and-route with ambitious goals for power, performance, and area.
- Work with a multi-functional engineering team to implement and validate physical design on aspects of timing, area, power, testability, and reliability.
- Perform different floor planning experiments to understand the microarchitectural feasibility for achieving high targets for performance, power, and area.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
