The Applied Machine Learning Research Scientist will join the Accessibility efforts on the Human-Centered Machine Intelligence (HCMI) team at Apple. This role focuses on advancing machine learning research and interactive technologies to enhance accessibility for individuals with various abilities. The team collaborates closely with product and platform teams to address significant challenges in accessibility, including speech access and visual understanding. Candidates should have a strong research background and a commitment to improving accessibility through innovative solutions.

• PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction or related field.
• Experienced researcher with depth in multimodal modeling, agentic systems, computer vision, speech, or foundation model evaluation.
• Publication and research record commensurate with seniority.
• Proven history of turning research contributions into tools, datasets, or products.
• Experience conducting research in accessibility or demonstrated commitment to accessibility.
• Experience with data collection or curation, including developing data or annotation protocols.
• Experience with human-centered evaluation methods, such as developing user study protocols.
• Experience developing and shipping products that utilize machine learning.
• Strong writing and presentation skills.
