Job description
The Performance Modeling Engineer will join Apple's GPU Performance Modeling Team, focusing on defining and optimizing GPU micro-architecture. This role involves collaborating with experienced designers to analyze workloads and identify areas for improvement. The engineer will architect new simulator features and enhance simulation performance while working closely with GPU and SoC Architects. The position requires a strong understanding of computer architecture and the ability to navigate uncertainties in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with programming in C and C++.
- Familiarity with performance and power simulation environments.
- Strong coding skills in object-oriented programming with C and C++.
- Knowledge of common data structures and algorithms.
- Familiarity with software design patterns.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Ruby.
- Strong knowledge of computer architecture and micro-architecture.
Responsibilities
- Perform C++ performance modeling of proposed architectural solutions and features.
- Gather, analyze, and validate measured and simulated results to compare architectural design alternatives.
- Analyze and present results to enable data-driven architecture and design decisions.
- Write architectural specification documents in collaboration with engineers across different disciplines.
- Work with multi-functional teams to develop architectural solutions.
- Improve Apple's modeling platform by developing APIs, tools, and optimal standard examples.
