The Data Center Plant Engineer, Controls role at Google involves overseeing the operation and maintenance of sophisticated electrical and mechanical systems within data centers. Requirements
- Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field.
- 7 years of experience in Controls/Automation in an industrial or commercial environment.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 50 lbs of equipment and use OSHA standard safety equipment.
- Willingness to work non-standard hours and differing work rotations/shifts.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and repair data center systems, including servers and network equipment.
- Provide leadership for critical system troubleshooting and repairs with minimal supervision.
- Respond to critical data center events and alarms, acting as a point of escalation for operational issues.
- Monitor plant efficiency metrics and drive site-level programs to improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with design engineers to bring an operational mindset to discussions about new infrastructure.
