Job description

The Sr. Mechatronics Engineer will join KLA's Central Engineering team in Milpitas, focusing on advanced motion control systems for semiconductor manufacturing. This role involves designing digital signal processor architectures and tuning servo loops for nanometer precision. The engineer will collaborate with software and mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration of complex electrical components. The position emphasizes innovation and rigorous design methodologies to enhance system performance.

Requirements

  • Strong control theory background in linear, nonlinear, digital, robust, and adaptive control theory.
  • 5+ years of experience in firmware development with C/C++ in a real-time operating system environment.
  • Experience in firmware programming and software architecture design.
  • Experience in servo loop tuning with nanoscale motion of stages.
  • Experience in the design, development, and integration of complex electrical components and subsystems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Doctorate degree with 3 years of related work experience, Master's degree with 6 years, or Bachelor's degree with 8 years of related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design digital signal processor real-time architecture for general motion control systems.
  • Implement advanced motion control for multi-axis motion systems.
  • Conduct servo loop design and tuning for nanometer motion systems.
  • Write Python and MATLAB scripts to accelerate the tuning process.
  • Develop new control algorithms to improve system performance.
  • Follow rigorous firmware design control methodology, including requirements specifications and verification plans.
  • Collaborate with software and mechanical teams for stage sub-system design.
  • Create user documentation that meets quality standards for manufacturing and service.
  • Drive the development, testing, and integration of complex electrical components and subsystems.
  • Support product transition into manufacturing and the field for high precision motion systems.

Benefits

  • Employees at KLA are often offered competitive pay with bonuses, a 401(k) match, an employee stock purchase program, and financial perks like student-debt assistance, planning support, and group insurance discounts. Health and lifestyle benefits typically include medical/dental/vision, life and other voluntary coverages, paid time off and holidays, family leave, backup care, wellness rewards, gym discounts, and community-volunteering opportunities.
