We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to lead the architecture of a groundbreaking system that provides AI with persistent memory at an organizational scale. This role involves working within a new team in Amazon's Personalization organization, focusing on creating innovative solutions that enhance productivity for builders at Amazon. The position requires a strong technical leader who can navigate complex engineering challenges and collaborate with Applied Scientists to bring research to production. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction and culture of the team.

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
• Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
• 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Own the end-to-end architecture for knowledge extraction and real-time retrieval systems.
• Lead the design and implementation of distributed systems handling millions of events per day.
• Make foundational choices about storage, indexing, and retrieval for scalable systems.
• Define technical standards and code review practices for the team.
• Partner with Applied Scientists to translate research breakthroughs into production-grade systems.
• Drive technical strategy with visibility from senior leadership.
• Design systems that manage temporal decay and conflicting knowledge sources.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish foundational patterns for the team.
