This role is for a software engineer on the team that builds and operates the internal developer platform for the Wallet, Payments, and Commerce organization. The platform supports the entire software development lifecycle and is essential for engineering teams to build and ship products efficiently. The position emphasizes high engineering quality, privacy, security, and compliance. The engineer will focus on designing APIs, writing production code, and ensuring system performance and correctness.

• 6+ years of experience building and operating production backend or infrastructure systems.
• Strong programming ability in Go, Java, Kotlin, C++, or a comparable statically typed language.
• Solid fundamentals in API design, concurrency, and error handling.
• Experience with distributed systems covering idempotency, eventual consistency, retries, and partial failure.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes and extensive cloud experience with at least one major cloud provider.
• Experience writing Kubernetes controllers or operators in production.
• Familiarity with declarative configuration and templating systems such as Pkl, CUE, Jsonnet, Kustomize, or Helm.
• Extended experience in GitOps, progressive delivery, developer platforms, or observability.
• Fluency with coding agents and LLM-based development tooling.

• Design the APIs and write the production code behind them.
• Own the performance and correctness of systems relied upon by engineering teams.
• Implement a real testing practice that catches regressions.
• Coach and mentor other individual contributors.
• Lead design reviews to reach decisions.
