This position involves high-level ownership of complex, ambiguous problems and requires collaboration with product development teams. The engineer will drive early-stage concept design and system modeling, ensuring that automation technologies meet holistic fulfillment needs. The team operates in a fast-paced environment, leveraging advanced technologies to transform Amazon's logistics network.

• 5+ years of design and innovation, research and development work experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a foreign equivalent
• Experience in management of engineering design projects
• Experience using business or technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software
• Knowledge of concepts like system architecture, optimization, and system analysis
• Master's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field
• Experience with complex automated material handling equipment and packaging technologies
• Experience with design-in-safety

• Own end-to-end concept design including physical layout, system modeling, and ergonomic assessment for next-generation automated fulfillment solutions
• Design advanced concept integration for ASRS, robotics, and material handling equipment in early-stage development phases
• Create visual prototypes and design artifacts that communicate complex automation concepts to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership
• Develop cost-effective solutions leveraging automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and robotics for future network implementation
• Create technical documentation including functional requirements which guide product development for downstream implementation teams
• Author technical white papers that convey highly complex designs and trade-offs to senior leadership audiences
• Iterate on early-stage concept designs through simulation and modeling to optimize space utilization, throughput, and operational efficiency
