Job description
The Network Infrastructure Engineer role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) focuses on building and scaling network systems for Amazon Dedicated Cloud regions. The position is part of the Infrastructure Operations team, which is responsible for the stability and sustainability of next-generation networks. Engineers will collaborate with internal customers and external vendors to ensure smooth project execution. Requirements
- The candidate must be a US Citizen and possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field is required.
- 3+ years of mid-level and/or enterprise experience as a technician or engineer, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
- Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF, and other routing and switching technologies is essential.
- Certifications including CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA are preferred.
- General comprehension of the various components and sub-components of data center infrastructure is required.
- Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment is necessary.
Responsibilities
- Clearly communicate project status and blockers to leadership and project management.
- Perform device build and cabling validation activities.
- Manage cabling vendor activities and perform quality assurance activities.
- Support Network Engineering deployment activities during scheduled change management windows.
- Participate in the migration, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
- Complete customer requests via the Remedy trouble ticketing system.
- Troubleshoot networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues.
- Deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes.
- Manage work and priorities through a ticketing system and collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
- Travel within the geographical work area is required, with up to 40% travel outside the traditional work area.
