Job description

The Cloud Hardware Development Engineer will join the Network Product Development team at AWS, focusing on building, deploying, and scaling Amazon networks across global data centers. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to deliver high-quality network solutions while ensuring operational excellence. The engineer will work on troubleshooting high-speed links and automating test plans, contributing to the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks. The position emphasizes innovation and the development of durable solutions to complex problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of verification experience, preferably in communication systems.
  • 4+ years of hardware design and validation experience of components, subsystems, and systems.
  • 2+ years of negotiations and vendor management experience.
  • 2+ years of experience developing test scripts for transceiver module validation and characterization.
  • 2+ years of experience in system integration for servers and GPU high-speed connectivities.
  • 1+ years of automation scripting experience using Python, Bash, Shell, and/or Perl.
  • PhD or Masters preferred.
  • Expertise in hardware and systems design and development.
  • Expertise in debugging and troubleshooting optical and electrical transceiver or link issues.
  • Experience working with ODM and CM suppliers of transceiver modules.
  • Experience in the transceiver development lifecycle.
  • Proven track record of innovating or inventing transceiver solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high quality network and/or systems operations, deployments, scaling, and technology refresh.
  • Drive product development activities and plans with customers, peers, and suppliers.
  • Troubleshoot problems related to optical and electrical high-speed links, ASIC, and DSP interoperability.
  • Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to evaluate and test new hardware and software features.
  • Create implementation plans for incorporating new features into network workflows.
  • Automate optical and electrical test plans and qualify optical and electrical modules.
  • Work with the network operations team to identify operation issues and improve quality and RMA processes.
