Job description
NVIDIA is seeking an engineer with deep expertise in LSF internals to manage and optimize scheduling behavior across multiple federated LSF cells. This role involves diagnosing performance issues and setting technical designs for cell topology as the compute farm expands. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure efficient workload management and policy encoding. This is a specialized position that requires a strong background in high-performance computing and LSF.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years in HPC or large-scale batch compute, with 5+ years of that on IBM Spectrum LSF.
- Demonstrated depth in LSF internals and ability to debug scheduler behavior beyond documentation.
- Hands-on MultiCluster experience in a production, multi-site environment.
- Strong Linux systems fundamentals and proficiency in system programming languages and scripting in Python, Perl, and shell.
Responsibilities
- Own scheduler behavior across 15–25 federated LSF cells, including tuning and scheduling cycle analysis.
- Diagnose MultiCluster forwarding problems and address user-reported performance issues.
- Set the technical design for cell topology and federation as the compute farm grows.
- Work with IaC engineers to encode scheduler policy into a config schema that withstands MultiCluster interactions.
- Partner with CAD and methodology teams on complex workloads that challenge normal assumptions.
Benefits
- Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
