Job description
The Entry-Level Structural Engineer position at Jacobs is designed for recent graduates looking to start their careers in structural engineering. As part of a collaborative design team, you will assist in structural analysis and design for various projects while developing your skills in communication and problem-solving. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and take on increasing responsibilities as you grow. You will work closely with experienced engineers and designers to ensure project requirements are met.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural Engineering
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ideally, a Master's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or a Master's degree in Structural Engineering
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification is preferred
- Experience with US building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC
- Experience with Structural Engineering analysis software, Navisworks, and Bluebeam
Responsibilities
- Perform conventional aspects of Structural Engineering analysis and design under close supervision
- Develop judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria with guidance
- Exhibit a high level of attention to detail and quality control in your work
- Manage your workload effectively and take full ownership of assigned tasks
- Work in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner while maintaining strong attention to detail
- Reach out for guidance when questions arise and recognize when help is needed
