Job description

This role is focused on building AI tools for Microsoft’s People Analytics team, enabling analysts to access self-serve people-data answers. The position emphasizes collaboration with analysts to ensure that the tools developed meet their needs and improve their workflows. The ideal candidate will leverage their analytical background to enhance AI capabilities and contribute to a culture of learning and innovation. This is not a traditional analyst role, as it prioritizes tool development over report generation.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 3+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 5+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build and extend the people-analytics MCP server by adding new datasets, improving answer quality, and cutting response times.
  • Diagnose and fix bugs across AI tools, and conduct rigorous testing before deployment.
  • Partner with the People Analytics team to build and test GitHub Copilot skills that encode analytical methods.
  • Prototype new solutions as opportunities arise, collaborating with senior teammates and adapting to shifting priorities.
  • Stay embedded with analysts to learn about tool shortcomings and turn feedback into actionable improvements.
  • Share knowledge and teach new AI tools and techniques to help others level up within the team.
  • Ensure responsible handling of sensitive people data by incorporating confidentiality and privacy requirements into all developments.

Benefits

  • Employees at Microsoft are often offered comprehensive, “world-class” benefits—including health and mental-wellness programs, competitive pay with bonuses and stock awards, and retirement/savings options. Time-off and flexibility are common, with generous vacation and holidays, parental and caregiver leave, and flexible work schedules, alongside learning support, employee resource groups, product discounts, and matching-gifts/volunteering programs. Specific benefits can vary by region.
