Job description
The Systems Development Engineer II role within Amazon Leo for Government focuses on ensuring the operational health, resiliency, and automation of team infrastructure. This position combines systems engineering, software development, and operational excellence to create reliable test environments. The engineer will architect and deliver infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring solutions to support hardware-in-the-loop and system lab environments. The successful candidate will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to drive operational best practices and enhance system reliability.
Requirements
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
- Experience with Linux/Unix.
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline build processes.
- Experience with distributed systems at scale.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance of TS/SCI.
Responsibilities
- Own the design, deployment, operational health, and long-term resiliency of lab infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
- Architect and implement infrastructure-as-code solutions and automation that ensure lab systems are reliable and scalable.
- Identify and mitigate risks to system resiliency through participation in design reviews and post-incident analyses.
- Define and drive operational best practices across the lab engineering organization.
- Deeply diagnose problems across the full stack and drive root-cause resolution of issues.
- Develop and maintain clear documentation including runbooks and operational procedures.
- Operate independently to identify gaps in infrastructure reliability and propose solutions.
- Coach and mentor team members on operational excellence and systems engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware teams, and software developers to ensure infrastructure supports all phases of integration and testing.
- Contribute to strategic and operational planning to ensure appropriate investments in agility and resiliency.
